75 Godiva Street, Thanksgiving Day, Thursday Afternoon

It was Thanksgiving! The house smelled amazing too, like roasting turkey and sage and simmering apple cider and baking pies. Eliot had outdone himself in the kitchen this year, whipping up the creamiest mashed potatoes, the fluffiest stuffing, and even the crispiest egg rolls Hardison had ever seen. His own contribution was a platter of the croissant-variety Hot Pockets in various flavors.

Look, his TA had requested them and he was gonna provide, dammit.

Now they were finishing up the last few dishes, setting the table, and preparing for a delicious Thanksgiving meal. Not every member of their assorted families could be here today, but every person who was here was family in their own way. For Hardison, found family was infinitely more precious than people just related by blood. Each person had chosen to be here, to be part of this, and--

Shut up, he wasn't getting all misty-eyed. It was the dust. It got all up in his allergies.

[Up super-early I know, but holiday-related SP expected in a big way and also timezones! Sorry to anyone confused, but this post is definitely set for Thursday, Thanksgiving.]

"I wasn't allowed to hate kimchi growing up," Kathy said. "I would have instantly been disowned. But then, you had some very strict opinions. Like about animal noises."

Eliot snorted. "Right, and kimchi's definitely the only thing you eat." He shook his head. "I'm from Oklahoma, hon. You're lucky I knew Korea existed at that age."

"I never liked whole chicken feet?" Kathy suggested. "But then I still don't. It's a texture thing."

Sure, she could think of, like, five things she'd been too picky to eat as a kid but she liked giving Eliot a hard time.

All one or two times he'd had to opportunity to try them.

"I'm okay with never having chicken feet at family dinners," Kathy told him with a smile. "Need any help in here?"

"Of course," Eliot said. "Check on that cranberry sauce for me, would you?"

"On it!" Kathy said, snapping a salute and popping over to the stove where a saucepan of deep red sauce bubbled. "Mmm, this smells delicious. Nothing jelly from the can for you, then?"

"I ever done anything to make you think I'd go for jellied sauce from a can?" Eliot shook his head. "You know, when I was older'n ten, anyway."

"I always just assumed that jellied sauce from a can was as much a Thanksgiving tradition as the turkey," Kathy laughed. "Even we ate some every year!"
